We woke up very early at the Hilton and arrived at the airport and were in the air by 9AM! We arrived in Darwin at about 12pm - and I even got to site in the cockpit as we landed. Darwin was very hot and humid and unfortunately on a Sunday afternoon not much to do. We spent most of the day in an English pub of all places! We finally flew out of Darwin at about 11pm that night. The flight was quick about two hours which we slept the whole way.November 27th
We woke up to a bright sunny day. before breakfast we looked around a little, the resort was beautiful. After breakfast we met with out tour guide and decided we were going to be real honeymooner and that we did not want to go anywhere on a tour. We caught a 'taxi' afterward to Kuta (the main tourist spot in Bali) no let me explain a taxi in Bali; when you leave resort there are about 20-30 men with vans that you can barter with to take you somewhere. Often they will take you somewhere wait up to 4 hours while you shop and then take you back to your resort. Unfortunately they can be anyone and it can be pretty risqué! We just caught one there this time and decided to find our own way back . Now Kuta was for young people heaps of clubs & party places, but very dirty I mean open sewerage in the footpaths! We did a little shopping but unfortunately because of the money exchange rates Bali was not that much cheaper than Australia. We got back to our resort and that night because we were worried about Bali belly we ate at the resort VERY PRICEY. We drunk our bottle of champagne that was given to us by QANTAS. That night we finally caught up our sleep and went straight to bed.November 28th
Our day today was very similar to yesterday a bit of shopping and alot of chilling out! This evening we went to a place called Jimbaran bay for dinner with some fellow Australian tourists. This place is very unique all across this sandy bay there are seafood cafes one after the other. Each one is the same and you can chose your fish, prawns, crabs as they are still swimming around, then they serve it up to you barbequed in Balinese spices DELICIOUS! Jimbaran Bay is also the place we had our pictures taken with the sunset behind us. Tonight was probably one of our favorite evenings we spent in Bali. After we got back we went to the beachside bar and drank BINTANG and talked to the chefs until they kicked us out it was great they even taught us some Balinese language to use on the 'natives', one was "Sel mat piss" Which means I have no money and "Sin can can" which mean now worries!! It was great the next day to use some of there language.November 29th
We decided to stay around our resort today swimming and just relaxing. We hired some bikes and rode around Nusa Dua and surrounding areas we picked up some sarongs and 3 traditional Balinese princess outfits for our girls. This evening we ate at a restaurant and had a traditional Balinese meal which was called Rijastafel it was delicious. Afterwards we watched the Legong dance which is a Balinese story it actually like our western story of the frog prince. Louis and I got up and danced we had a great time! It was early when we got back so we went for a swim it was still warm and the water was warmer than the air ! We knew we would be doing alot of sightseeing the next day so we had an early night.November 30th
We woke up early this morning and bartered with a taxi driver to take us to Kuta, then Tanalot Temple wait there then bring us back he charged us $90,000 rupiah which is Australian $30 for 6hours WHAT A DEAL!December 1st
Today was our final day in Bali. We went into the villages and bought present and clothes for the family. We spent the last of our money there so we spent the rest of the day on the beach. We were both really missing the girls and ready to get back to 'normal food'. We left Bali about 9pm at night and our plane did not leave until 12am. While we were waiting to board our plane the whole airports' power went down THAT was scary, considering this WAS an international airport !Luckily the runways lights still worked. It took us about 2hours to get back to Darwin and it was 5am Saturday when we arrived , the plane we were supposed to catch was not leaving for 6hours so we begged the flightbookings people to get us on the flight via Cairns. She did and what an experience that was we flew across the Gulf Of Carpentaria in a 4 engine jet stopping once in a place called Gove which is on the tip of Australia. We then flew from cairn to Brisbane finally we were home!!
